Town Wide Traffic Signal Inventory and Assessment

BETA completed a Town Wide Traffic Signal Inventory, Analysis, and Operations Plan to identify measures that would improve safety and traffic flow at twenty-four signalized intersections in the Town of Barnstable. In addition, BETA developed an Operations and Maintenance Plan to assist the Town with prioritizing and tracking required improvements. These enhancements consisted of traffic signal timing/phasing changes, new equipment, replacement of worn parts, lane use modifications, or geometric changes to the intersection. This project included:
- A major data collection program
- An inventory of existing signal equipment, settings and effectiveness
- Traffic analysis to document existing operations and identify potential signal/intersection upgrades
- A review of existing accessible pedestrian signals and countdown signal heads
- Documentation of physical features
- An Operations and Maintenance Program
