Merrick’s experience focuses on civil, transportation, and environmental engineering. He plans, designs, coordinates, and expedites state, municipal, and private sector projects for a variety of BETA clients. Merrick’s transportation experience is broad, ranging from managing design efforts for multi-million dollar interchanges to smaller local projects.
Merrick recently served as the Project Manager for the reconstruction of Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, a comprehensive “complete street” enhancement project. For the Town of Westwood, Merrick led the Roadway design peer reviews on the redevelopment of University Station – a vibrant, mixed use, smart growth pedestrian-oriented community. For MassDOT, Merrick has served as the project manager for the redesign of Route 146 at I-290 Interchange in Worcester. He is also currently leading the redesign of Route 107 in Salem, a $50 million multi-modal safety improvement project. Additionally, Merrick has completed roadway, intersection, and streetscape projects in Boston, Lynn, Framingham, Franklin, Wellesley, and Natick, Massachusetts.
Born in the United Kingdom, Merrick is an “Old Englander.” In his spare time, he spends as much time as he can as outdoor “New Englander.”
