Downtown Visioning Plan
Raymond, New Hampshire
BETA was asked to prepare material and lead community members and stakeholders in a process entitled ‘Framing the Vision’: a day-long workshop focused on looking to the Town’s 250th and beyond in regards to developing a comprehensive “re-think” of the downtown and celebration. The Team conducted an intensive one day charrette at the Southern New Hampshire Regional Economic Development Center, located in the heart of Raymond’s downtown. BETA conducted an Inventory and Assessment powerpoint, presenting Issues and Opportunities, as well as a site walk of the downtown areas, which was designed to prompt participants to look at the downtown environment with a fresh perspective. A questionnaire with follow-up discussion of the tabulated responses, interactive mapping, and goal setting leading to project prioritization exercises and consensus building were also a part of the day. The products developed included the creation of specific short and long term goals, participant questionnaire responses and graphics, priority maps, and several graphic sketches depicting both planning goals and envisioned elements of a revitalized downtown.
