PBN Names BETA’s Donna Lantagne as CFO of the Year

Lincoln, RI – May 1, 2015
Providence Business News (PBN) celebrated the Chief Financial Officers of the Year in an awards dinner at Bryant University on April 30, 2015, where BETA’s Senior Vice President and CFO, Donna Lantagne, received her award for winning the “mid-size private company” category.
Donna and the other award recipients were recognized for their accomplishments among top financial executives at private and public companies, nonprofits, and government and quasi-government agencies throughout Rhode Island.
BETA Group, Inc., an Engineering and Landscape Architecture firm headquartered in Rhode Island, has seen massive growth in the 33 years since Donna joined the company. Originally hired to manage an office of four people, she now manages the financial assets of five offices which include over 140 people in four states. She has overseen mergers and acquisitions, selected and implemented a software system for financial management, and provides daily strategic vision as part of the senior management team.
“I am honored and pleased to receive this award,” she said. “Along the way in my journey with BETA, I have been fortunate to have had many mentors starting with Mike Grilli, the Chairman and Founder, then later Frank Romeo, our current CEO. Along with attending night classes, I was also mentored and trained in the early years by a former principal and even received tutoring during BETA’s growth spurts from Walter Dias, COO of Butler Hospital. As you can see, the firm’s leadership has truly invested in me.
“Members of my staff, who have been with BETA for many years, have also contributed to my success. I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to know and work alongside these wonderful people who have such great dedication and work ethic.”
Frank Romeo has worked alongside Donna since he joined BETA in 1986. “It’s not a coincidence that BETA’s notable growth has paralleled Donna’s success as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer,” he said. “Her financial skills have positively impacted BETA’s operations, services, and profitability. We are so proud that Donna is being recognized for her exceptional work, vision, and accomplishments.”
