Asset Management Services
Commonwealth of North Mariana Islands, Saipan
In September of 2010, BETA took their GIS expertise across the international date line to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). They traveled from Rhode Island to Hawaii, on to Guam, and then to their final destination, Saipan. Saipan is the largest of the three islands that make up CNMI.
BETA’s primary task was to assist the Saipan DPW with the development of a GIS-based Asset Management System. In general, this included the following:
- Conducted meetings with DPW staff to discuss maintenance responsibilities and protocols
- Establish GIS Basemap
- Identify DPW assets to be included in system (i.e., roads, water, sewer, drain, signs, poles)
- GPS purchase and training
- Pavement Management Program installation and training
- System maintenance requirements
