Expanding Recreation Opportunities in Warwick, Rhode Island

This past spring, the City of Warwick broke ground on the City Hall Plaza Skating Rink, a project that BETA is excited to be part of. The rink is set to become a boutique outdoor ice-skating destination, serving as a hub of activity and enjoyment in the City. Mayor Frank Picozzi has expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing its significance in enhancing the quality of life for Warwick residents.

Revitalizing Barrett Park in Stamford, CT

BETA worked with the City of Stamford to develop a master plan for the vibrant six-acre Barrett Park near downtown. The project transformed the park with a new play area featuring berms, paths, plantings, a splashpad, and fitness spaces, along with enhanced sports fields and courts. Improved lighting and safer connections to nearby roads make the park more accessible and inviting. Public meetings played a key role, bringing the community together to shape the playground design and enhancements, creating a space that truly reflects the community’s vision.

Expert Environmental Solutions for Your Next Restoration Project

BETA’s ecological and permitting group plays a vital role in enhancing parks, trails, and recreational facilities for our clients’ communities. By leveraging our extensive expertise in wetlands and ecological assessments, we deliver tailored environmental solutions that ensure sustainability and regulatory compliance.

For the Mohawk Bicycle Trail in Williamstown, Massachusetts, BETA conducted wetland resource delineations and soil and vegetation surveys, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. BETA also led the environmental permitting for the trail, navigating its location within rare species habitat, the 100-year floodplain, FEMA-restricted property, and along the Hoosic River and various streams and wetlands. The 2.4-mile paved multi-modal path will connect the Williams College Campus to the Spruces Conservation Area, passing by historic sites and crossing over the Cole Field Landfill.

Welcome to the Team!

Beth Sugerman joins BETA as an administrative assistant in our Norwood office. Beth recently received an associate degree in business administration from Quinsigamond Community College where she was also awarded Outstanding Business Student of the Year. Beth has worked in various administrative and customer service roles throughout Massachusetts.

Rory Cavicke rejoins BETA as an engineering designer in our water and wastewater group. Rory previously worked in BETA’s transportation group on a part-time basis as he completed his bachelor’s in environmental engineering from the University of Connecticut. In his previous role as a field technician, Rory assisted in BETA’s horizontal curves statewide signage work, collecting and interpreting field data as well as creating maps and designs in MicroStation to enhance road safety.

Anthony Carraggi joins BETA as an engineering designer in our wastewater group. Anthony recently received his bachelor’s in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Anthony adds valuable municipal experience to our team from his internship with the Town of Dedham’s engineering department, having contributed to the successful completion of the Town’s Greenlodge Street sidewalk and street layout project.

William Ashworth interned with BETA last summer and now joins the firm as an engineering designer in our stormwater group. Billy recently completed his bachelor’s in civil engineering from Roger Williams University and has additional engineering experience from his time interning with RIDOT, where he provided project support and conducted material testing to ensure the quality and safety of construction materials.

Cameron Ridgewell joins BETA’s wastewater group as an engineering designer. He earned his bachelor’s in civil engineering with a minor in mathematics from Roger Williams University. Cameron has prior experience as a geotechnical engineer intern at GHD Group based in Bluffton, South Carolina. During his internship, Cameron performed numerous soil, asphalt, and on-site roof roll tests as well as nuclear gauge tests and various other lab and field tests.

Kat Manning is a new member of BETA’s GIS and asset management group, serving as a GIS specialist. They recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s in GIS and political science. Prior to joining BETA, Kat was a stormwater mapping technician for the Western CT Council of Governments where she collected field data on stormwater infrastructure to ensure compliance with MS4 standards. Kat also has experience digitalizing features from web surveys into ArcGIS Pro to create accurate stormwater infrastructure networks.

Kyle Padula, EIT interned at BETA last summer and now joins our structural engineering group as an engineering designer. Kyle recently earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the University of Rhode Island. While a student, he completed several classes and labs focused on structural engineering and the physical and mechanical properties of construction materials. He also has experience with AutoCAD, CAD, STAAD, and MASTAN2.
