On-Call Road Rehabilitation

BETA has been providing engineering services to the City of Framingham for their annual city-wide roadway rehabilitation project. The project includes the design and construction of various transportation improvements including roadway and sidewalk improvements, bicycle facilities, ADA ramps, and drainage improvements. BETA generates preliminary and final design plans using GIS database information supplemented by field survey and also assists the city with environmental permitting as needed. Project designs may include incorporating curb bump-outs and revised corner radius to shorten pedestrian crossings, patterned sidewalks/crosswalks to delineate pedestrian paths, installation of new sidewalk to provide pedestrian connections, design of multi-use paths, and installation of bicycle lanes.

BETA continues to provide construction administration services, including office support and on-site resident engineering.

A recent project under this rehabilitation was the design, permitting, and construction of the Dudley Road multi-use path. The path extends through a park adjacent to Dudley Road and Farm Pond from Fountain Street to Mt. Wayte Avenue. The city designed portions of the project while BETA assisted with the design of a major culvert extension, retaining walls and railings, and also prepared environmental permit documentation. BETA provided construction administration and resident engineering services. The path was constructed in two phases.
