BETA Completes PPAC Square, Weybosset Street Project

In downtown Providence, Empire and Weybosset streets will become two-way on Jan. 10 before the morning commute.

Weybosset will be two-way from Empire Street to Dorrance Street. Empire Street will be two-way between Fountain Street and Weybosset Street; the parking spaces on Empire will be changed from diagonal to parallel on the east side of the street.

Both streets were two-way until the 1970s. The re-configuration is being done through the Downtown Providence Traffic Circulation Improvements Phase II in an effort to relieve traffic congestion.
