A closer look at our new Boston office

In 1985, BETA opened a small office in the City of Boston. Nearly 40 years later, we are excited to be back in Boston with the opening of our seventh New England office.

BETA has been providing engineering, planning, landscape architecture, environmental, and asset management services to the City of Boston as well as State agencies located in the City including MassDOT, MBTA, Department of Conservation and Recreation, and MassPort. BETA’s new office, located near Post Office Square, enables us to better serve our clients within the City and provides space for our growing staff to collaborate. 

We are proud to offer all areas of our technical expertise from Boston, including transportation and traffic, civil/site, water/wastewater, and structural engineering, as well as environmental, GIS/asset management, climate resiliency, and landscape architecture/urban design services.

Not only is our Boston office easily accessible from public transit and major interstates, allowing us to quickly reach other clients in the region, but it also provides access to excellent amenities for our employees. Read more here!

BETA’s Drone Program takes flight

Last year BETA initiated its UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Committee along with acquiring the company’s first drone. The committee and its drone pilots have since grown into effective tools in BETA’s service portfolio. Operating under Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 commercial licenses, BETA pilots have flown various missions and generated numerous photos, videos, and aerial maps for our clients and projects. Our drone program has become a reliable tool and a value-added service that enhances our traditional suite of services and expands our in-house capabilities.

In addition to providing high quality aerial photography and videography, BETA uses drone photogrammetry and aerial mapping technology in several of our ongoing projects to enhance public understanding from additional vantage points and perspectives. This is a great tool for both large, complex site development projects and smaller, detail-oriented projects. BETA is able to couple this technology with the drone’s more conventional applications on large-scale projects under construction to provide a timeline overview of progress and overall project status.

Giving back together

To wrap up Earth Month, BETA employees, along with their friends and families, attended a cleanup event hosted by the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council (WRWC).

The cleanup event took place at the WRWC’s Environmental Education Center, nestled by Stillwater Pond in Smithfield, RI.

Together, we worked to prepare and build an outdoor classroom, a space that will serve as a hub for education, inspiration, and fostering a deeper connection with nature.

Thank you once again to our incredible volunteers for their dedication and hard work and thank you to the WRWC for coordinating! We look forward to many more opportunities to collaborate and make a positive impact in our communities.

Welcome to the team!

Michael Mogenson joins BETA as a Senior Resident Representative working out of our Hartford office. He brings nearly 40 years of construction and engineering experience, specializing in road condition studies, corrective maintenance planning, and paving projects. His complete understanding of bituminous concrete mixes and the manufacturing and placement process will bring tremendous value to BETA’s ongoing and future roadway reconstruction projects.

Rory Cavicke is a Technician working in BETA’s transportation and traffic group out of the Hartford office. He is a rising senior at the University of Connecticut where he serves as President of the school’s Engineers Without Borders Chapter. Working with his peers, Rory raised enough money to drill a well in Kenya and served as the project lead to ensure its correct implementation.
