March Newsletter – Optimizing Communities with GIS & Asset Management
March 31, 2025
At BETA, we know that data-driven decision-making is the key to building smarter, more resilient communities. This month, we’re highlighting how our GIS and asset management solutions are transforming our clients’ municipal operations — from urban forestry programs and snow plow route mapping to smarter pavement management strategies.
Urban Forestry Planning

Our urban forestry planning services utilize advanced GIS technology to manage and preserve urban green spaces effectively. By conducting comprehensive tree inventories and assessing canopy coverage, we help communities enhance air quality, reduce urban heat islands, and promote environmental well-being. Currently, we’re collaborating with the City of Manchester, New Hampshire to leverage GIS technologies for tree inventory assessments, aiding in data-driven decisions that maximize natural benefits and optimize maintenance efforts.
Snow Plow Route Optimization

Efficient snow removal is critical for public safety and cost management during the winter months. Our GIS-driven approach analyzes plow, sanding, and winter maintenance routes, along with equipment capacities, to optimize snow plow operations. This both reduces costs and improves response times. In the Towns of Reading, Wakefield, and Brookline, Massachusetts, we have successfully streamlined winter maintenance routes, minimizing overlap and enhancing service coverage. This has led to greater efficiency, cost savings, and improved snow removal operations.
Pavement Management

Maintaining pavement quality is essential for safe and efficient transportation. Our Pavement Management Programs offer sustainable strategies to manage and maintain pavement, ensuring longevity and cost-effectiveness. By conducting meticulous assessments and analyses, we provide tailored solutions that address each client’s unique needs, contributing to the overall improvement of a community’s infrastructure.
