Canal Street Groundbreaking

The much anticipated White Rock Road/Canal Street Drainage Project in Westerly, Rhode Island was initiated on Tuesday, September 25th, with an official groundbreaking ceremony at the Gingerella Sports Complex on White Rock Road. Attendees included numerous officials from the Town of Westerly including Town Manager Steven Hartford, as well as representatives of BETA Group, Inc. and D’Ambra Construction, the project contractor.

The $3.4M road reconstruction and stormwater enhancement project will be funded by an Emergency Management Agency grant, which was awarded to the Town in response to the historic flooding of the area that occurred in the spring of 2010. The project will make significant improvements to the existing roadways and the stormwater infrastructure therein, and is scheduled to be completed early in 2014.
